South Jersey Gas Call 811 Reminder

As we all look forward to warmer weather and getting outdoors, we here at South Jersey Gas are looking to get ahead of the spring digging season by getting the message out to remind folks about safe digging practices and damage prevention public awareness.  South Jersey Gas is looking for your assistance and continued support in reminding your contractors and constituents to Call 811 before any digging projects, commercial or residential.

Every nine minutes, an underground utility is damaged due to failure to obtain a free mark-out. In 2020, approximately 40% of our total facility damages were directly related to homeowners and small contractors doing excavations without the required mark-out. Failing to call NJ One Call for the proper mark-out ticket puts the health and safety of everyone at risk.

Our Damage Prevention team is always available to answer questions, provide field assistance or prepare and deliver public awareness presentations. The team is also open to collaboration on new ideas to educate and communicate safe digging and public awareness to all.
